Trifluoromethane and chloroform are produced by the disproportionation of CHClF 2 and/or CHCl 2 F by passing the CHClF 2 and/or CHCl 2 F into an aluminium halide which is immersed in liquid chloroform at a temperature between -10‹ and +150‹ C. and at a pressure of between 0À2 and 50 atmospheres absolute. The aluminium halide may be suspended in the liquid chloroform or may be in the form of a stationary bed saturated with the liquid chloroform.</p> |
