1,183,430. Welding by fusion. THEODOR GROZ & SOEHNE, and ERNST BECKERT NADELFABRIK COMMANDIT-GES. 31 Oct., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 51585/68. Heading B3R. [Also in Division DIC] The pivot pin retaining the latch 4 of a knitting needle in its slot 3 is positively located in the pivot pin holes in the side cheeks of the shank by upsetting the ends of the pin, Fig. 3, or by screwing it in position or by an annular bead and annular groove pairing, and is additionally secured by welding the ends of the pin to the outside surfaces of the cheeks. The welding is effected by either laser beam or electron beam and in the latter case it is carried out in a vacuum. The welding region 10 is a ring in the region of the axle pin circumference on the outside of the shaft faces. Concentration of welding energy over an annular region may be attained as shown in Fig. 6 on plane A-A which is located in front of the focal point of an energy beam, the latter having a peripheral region with greater energy concentration than centre, so that the energy distribution occurs as shown in Fig. 7. |
