The control handle 24 of a motor-driven truck 10 has a twist grip 36 which causes rotation of a cam 72 to cause blades in a contact stack to progressively close, thereby progressively shorting out resistances and increasing the speed of the truck. The cam plate 72 has two cam shoulders 78, 80, for two identical banks of contact blades, rotation of the grips 36 of the operating handle 32 in either direction operating one bank to increase the truck speed. A spring 58 returns the handle 32 to neutral on release. Each handle part is weakened at 51 to break upon impact with an obstacle, but is strong enough for normal operation. Other switches 30 on the control handle control the loading activities of the truck. The support bar 22 is a " dead man's handle " and must be lowered before the control handle is utilized (Fig. 1, not shown). The control handle casing 26 is mounted on support bar 22 and tightened thereon by carriage bolts 130, bowing the walls of the bar 22 (Figs. 10, 11, not shown). |
