1,258,340. Fuel injectors. BENDIX CORP. April 29, 1969 [May 7, 1968], No.21735/69. Heading F1B. A fuel injection valve comprises two body portions 10, 11 joined together by a nut 12, and a needle valve 26 urged towards its closed position by a spring-pressed plunger 52 and opened by high-pressure fuel delivered to discharge passages 16 through passages 39, 41, 45 and cavity 22. Two parallel passages 41 are communicated with two parallel passages 45 via an arcuate channel 44. The plunger 52 is housed in an eccentric bore 32 as shown so that the wall of body portion 10 is thicker in the region of the channel 44 to provide an adequate sealing area there around. Fuel leaking from cavity 22 to bore 32 is discharged through an annular groove 61 and a passage 62. Index marks 59, 60 ensure correct alignment of the body portions 10, 11.
