[Also in Division C2] A rhodium coordination complex catalyst contains as liquid an MR 3 group where M is is N, P, As or Sb and the R groups are organic at least one being an aryl or aryloxy group provided that when used in solution MR 3 is present in a stoichiometric excess and that when used in the vapour phase the catalyst complex is supported on a solid carrier and contains as liquids at least two MR 3 compounds, CO and at least one halogen selected from Cl, Br and I. Carriers specified include pumice, Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , MgO, TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , CaO, MgSiO 3 , SiC, C, zeolites, organic polymers and various clays. Specified pore size s from 0.05 to 2.0cm<SP>3</SP>/g and particle size is from 400 mesh/inch to 3/8 inch. Many Rh complexes exemplified and starting compounds may contain halogen, SnX 3 , K and H. |
