1,115,345. Slip casting. N.V. KONINKLIJKE SPHINX-CERAMIQUE V/H PETRUS REGOUT. 8 June, 1965 [10 June, 1964], No. 24222/65. Heading B5A. A body, e.g. of crockery or vitreous china, is slip cast under pressure of a fluid medium in a porous mould 13, which is masked by a layer of adhesive plastics material 14, within a sealed tank 1 filled with slip, via pipe 5, which after application of pressure, via pipe 9, to build up the body 16, is exhausted via pipe 8. Pressurization of the masked surfaces of the mould provides a support against pressure applied to the slip. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the mould is masked by a flexible bag (18) recessed to the contour of the mould (19) and to the interior of which pressure medium is supplied at a pressure higher than that of the pressure medium supplied to the slip by a pipe (20) passing through the walls of the bag (18); after the moulded body (26) has been formed, surplus slip is removed by the pipe (20). A plurality of the moulds 13, or moulds (19) and bags (18) may be employed in a single tank 1 (or 17). |
