1,246,124. Self centring aircraft arrestor hook. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 21 July, 1969 [29 July, 1968], No. 36088/68. Heading B7G. [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] An I-section arm 2 of a self-centring aircraft arrestor hook is pivotally connected about pin 22 to a bracket 3 itself pivotally connected about pin 21 to the rear of an aircraft 20. Rollers 7 are attached to an extension 6 of the bracket 3 and when arm 2 is moved from the central position, say in the direction of one member 11a of a pair of ring beams 11a, 11b, the rollers 7 abut its face 12 and force member 11a to pivot about pin 10a mounted on the arm 2. This in turn, through push rod 16, causes spring member 11b to similarly pivot, since it abuts via a bearer 13b the end 14 of the centre web 8 of the arm 2. The spring members 11a and 11b bend about their respective pivots 10a and 10b to produce a restoring force on arm 2. Initial setting up is effected by screw adjustment of the bearers 13a, 13b and similar bearers 15a, 15b contacting the rod 16. Bolts 18a and 18b limit the angle of pivot of the pivot arm 2. |
