[Also in Division F1 In a rotary-piston I.C. engine the rate of flow of a lubricant, e.g. oil, through a radiallyorientated passage or conduit within a rotatable power-output shaft is regulated by a centrifugally-operated valve comprising a needle valve-member 32 which is controlled by a compression spring 33 and, at low angular velocities, abuts a shoulder 37 on a seat 31 to effect a minimum annular gap 36 between itself and the seat. Alternatively, the valve comprises a ball (32), Fig. 6 (not shown), which is controlled by a spring (33) having a conic configuration so that it has a non-uniform stiffness, a seat (31) being provided with a narrow by-pass passage (35). |
