1,114,730. Burners; water heaters. VAPOUR CORPORATION. 8 May, 1967 [23 May. 1966], No. 21337/67. Headings F4A and F4T. The liquid fuel burner arrangement for a vehicle heater includes a burner 13 located within a combustion chamber 14 of a firepot 15 and surrounded by a radiation baffle 20, the burner being supported on the end of a vaporizing tube 45 containing a mesh screen 56 and fuel being supplied through an inlet 46 by a pulse type pump and combustion air being delivered by a high-pressure blower 47 so that fuel spreads on the screen 56 and heat from flue gases passing through a passageway 43 and chamber 57 assists in vaporization of the fuel. In operation fuel supplied by the pump passes in liquid form to the vaporizing chamber 58 of the burner, through a drip tube 73 to burner chamber 59 and thence through a second drip tube 75 and on to a glow plug igniter 76, the ignited fuel causing vaporization to commence so that combustion in burner orifices 69 generates a blue flame which impinges on the baffle 20. A coil heat-exchanger 28 through which water flows provides heat for the vehicle and a temperature-responsive switch 79 in the flue gas stream de-energizes the glow plug 76 when ignition takes place. |
