Solid dye preparations are prepared by forming an aqueous suspension of a dyestuff having a water solubility at 25‹C of at least 2% by weight in the presence of a watersoluble salt, homogenising the suspension which is then spray dried to form a granular preparation the granules of which have an average particle size of at least 20 microns and contain the dyestuff and salt there being up to 50% by weight of the salt present. The granules will have a core of dyestuff coated with the salt which may be sodium chloride, sodium sulphate, sodium metaphosphate, sodium or potassium carbonate, dispersing and standardising agents may also be present. Anionic, cationic and non-ionic dyes may be used, diazo, copper phthalocyanine, and anthraquinone dyes being specified.</p> |
