In an adjustable tappet for an OHC engine, a plate 7 of an interchangeable set is inserted between the tappet 1 and the valve push rod 3 through slots 4, 5 in the -tappet wall and retained by a snap ring 6 in a groove 8 around the tappet, one end of the plate 7 abutting the snap ring and the other end having a shoulder 9 to engage the snap ring and an extension 10 which projects outside the tappet to facilitate extraction of the plate 7. |
