PURPOSE:To protect an operator from being injured or otherwise at the time of opening the upper portion of a device and working for sheet jam elimination, a sensitive body change or the like by applying the constitution wherein the gear of a star wheel retreats from the lower side of a star wheel to the upper side thereof and is not exposed, when the aforesaid upper portion is opened to one side. CONSTITUTION:When the upper portion 1a of a device 1 is closed, the gear of a star wheel 20 so fitted to a star wheel support member 21 as to be freely slidable vertically, is exposed from the lower side of the star wheel support member 21 and comes in contact with the carriage face of a sheet carriage belt 13a under a light load. Then, constitution is so made that when the upper portion 1a of the device 1 is opened to one side, the gear of the star wheel 20 retreats from the lower side of the aforesaid support member 21 to the upper side thereof and is not exposed. According to the aforesaid construction, an operator is protected from being injured or hurt in a finger, due to contact with the sharp gear of the star wheel 20, at the time of opening the upper portion 1a of the device 1 for undertaking sheet jam elimination, a sensitive body change or the like. |
