PURPOSE:To judge whether or not sheet which is separated/fed is used piece by piece by providing a recognizing means which judges whether or not the sheet is used from the signal of a reading means, and controlling a printing means according to the output of the recognizing means. CONSTITUTION:A sheet to be fed is made to travel and read by delivering the adjacent position of a scanner 2, the scanner 2 performs reading with data in a dot matrix condition, and the sheet is judged from the difference in lightness between the dots adjacent to the data in a dot matrix condition by a recognizing means 3. If there is a part where the difference in lightness is larger than a prescribed value, the surface of the sheet which is read by the scanner 2 is judged as used. When the difference in lightness of the dots adjacent to each other is judged, reliability of the judgment becomes higher than the reliability by simply judging the lightness of data which have been read, and re-produced papers with color and so on can be used. Thus, if sheet is judged as used from the judged results, the printing means is not operated, and if it is judged as non-used, the printing means 4 is controlled for operation. |
