The invention comprises water-soluble azo dyestuffs containing at least one group of the formula <FORM:1119404/C4-C5/1> wherein R1 and R2 are each independently H or C1 to C4 alkyl, X is Cl, Br or SO3H; Q is N, C-Cl or C-CN; Z is an arylene radical whch may be substituted, W is a carbamyl, -SO2-, -O- or -S- linkage, and Y is -CH2CHOHCH2Cl, -CH2CHOHCH2Br or -CH2CHOHCH2OSO3H group. They may be obtained by (1) reacting an azo compound containing either a group of the formula <FORM:1119404/C4-C5/2> or a group of the formula -NHR1 with respectively an amine of the formula NHR2-Z-W-Y, or a compound or mixture of compounds of the formula <FORM:1119404/C4-C5/3> (2) diazotizing a diazotizable aromatic amine containing a group of the formula <FORM:1119404/C4-C5/4> wherein X is Cl or Br, and coupling with a coupling component. The metallized dyes may be obtained by metallizing an unmetallized dye containing a group of Formula I or by introducing the metal during the course of the preparation of the dye. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing or printing a variety of textile materials. |
