1286733 Shearing; feed tables SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU GmbH 29 July 1970 [11 Aug 1969] 36670/70 Heading B3W The upper and lower blades 1a, 2a of an end cropping shear are vertically reciprocable, the upper blade being encountered first in the feed direction of slabs &c. to be cropped, and there is a gap between feed and delivery roller tables 7a, 7b respectively for the free passage of cropped ends into a scrap bin. For front end cropping, the upper blade 1a is first lowered on to the slab and the lower blade 2a then makes the cut; in rear end cropping, the lower blade is raised to contact the slab and the upper blade then makes the cut. The roller tables may be movable in the feed direction so that for front cropping, Fig. 3, the feed table is close to the blades and the gap is between the blades and the delivery table and for rear cropping, Fig. 7, the gap is between the blades and the feed table. The roller tables may be interconnected and have a common displacement drive. A hold down 5 is mounted on the upper knife carrier 1 for movement with, and relative to, the carrier. Instead of having individual hydraulic cylinders 3 and 4, the blades may be coupled alternately to a single drive unit which may be connected to the common displacement drive for the roller tables. |
