A lamp consists of a stand for receiving a receptacle 18 containing liquid fuel, e.g. butane, propane or kerosene, to which is attached alight emitting head 22 having a glass globe and an incandescent mantle, the stand being composed of a sleeve 14 and a detachable foot 10 which together form a housing for enclosing the head during transport. The foot 10 has a flange 12 into which projections 16 provided at each end of the sleeve 14 can engage. For packing purposes, the foot has an annular flange 34 to receive the neck 20 of the head 22 and the sleeve 14 has an annular flange 36 which engages a resiliently supported cap 38 on the head 22 when the sleeve is inverted and reunited to the foot. In place of the projections 16, the sleeve and foot may be united by a bayonet joint or by screw threads. A shade 26 supported by a wire frame having legs 28 fitting into tubular members 30 on the sleeve may be provided. |
