Apparatus for indicating errors in a bevel gearwheel transmission comprises a pair of cylindrical members 12, 13 to each of which one of the gearwheels 38, 39 to be tested is coupled and two displaceable bars 14, 15 which roll without sliding on the cylindrical members. These members are constructed as cylinders of constant diameter and the longitudinal movements of the bars are synchronized by a control bar 19 which is angularly adjustable in accordance with the transmission ratio of the gear-wheels. The control bar is mounted on a slide 2 which supports the bar 14 whilst rectilinear movement is imparted to the bar 15 by a pin 16 on the bar engaging a groove 22 in the control bar 19. The centre spacing of the two gear-wheels is initially adjusted by a hand wheel 8. The gearwheel 38 is mounted on a mandrel 5 coupled through a clutch 51 to an extension 50 having a recess 25 which receives the sensing element 26 of an indicator 27. The member 12 is freely rotatable about the extension 50 and supports the indicator 27. When the slide is moved by a motor 40 and a screw spindle 41 engaging a nut on the slide, the bar 14 rotates the member 12, slipping being prevented by electromagnet means, whilst the bar 15 similarly rotates the gear-wheel 39 via a clutch 52, thus also rotating the gear-wheel 38 and the extension 50. Errors in the gear-wheels cause relative rotation between the member 12 and the extension 50 and are registered on the indicator 27. |
