MANUFACTURE OF ROLLER COATED WITH RESIN TUBE

PURPOSE:To strongly bond a metal core shaft and a resin tube by a method wherein the rubber layer injected in the gap between a cylindrical mold and the roller covered with the resin tube to be cured is expanded under heating and allowed to stand to be cooled to room temp. or positively cooled to room temp. CONSTITUTION:A roller constituted by covering a metal core shaft 1 with a resin tube 2 is inserted in a cylindrical mold 4 having an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the roll to be concentrically held and liquid rubber is subsequently injected in the gap between the resin tube 2 and the inner wall of the cylindrical mold 4 and cured to form a rubber layer 7 and this rubber layer 7 is expanded by heating the whole to closely bond the resin tube 2 to the metal core shaft 1 under pressure and, thereafter, the whole is allowed to stand to be cooled to room temp. or positively cooled to room temp. to prepare a resin tube coated roller wherein the resin tube 2 is closely bonded to the metal core shaft 1. By this method, the resin tube and the metal core shaft are strongly bonded and the release of the resin tube or the generation of wrinkles in the resin tube can be prevented.
