In the one-stage process the reaction is carried out in the presence of an alkali and in the two-stage process the monoalcohol is first condensed with the epihalogenohydrin in the presence of an acidic or basic catalyst and the resulting halogenohydrin is dehydrohalogenated by means of an alkali to give the diglycidyl ether.
