Thermal treatment of mud residues

A process for treating a mud contg. lime, and residues resulting from tertiary water treatment involves the following steps: (1) heating in an oven so that the residues are incinerated in a first zone, and the lime recalcined in a second zone; (2) drying the mud upstream of the oven, (3) wetting the particles to be reused in the tertiary treatment. (4) mechanically separating cinders and lime, (5) separating the carbon dioxide of combustion from the lime to avoid formation of calcium carbonate.
