Positioning dummy bars in continuous casting - installations

In preparation for a new casting, the dummy bar is brought into position above the ingot mould and fed from above through the mould and guide sleeve. Specif. the dummy bar is retained in a container until a new casting is due to begin, the container being movable from the position where the dummy bar is detached from the casting to a position above the ingot mould with which means are provided for mutual alignment.
