The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I where R is C 1-6 alkyl, halogen, nitro, alkylthio, alkoxy, acyl or carbalkoxy, and n is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, the substituents R being the same or different when n is 2, 3, 4 or 5, which may be prepared by reacting an appropriate optionally substituted O-phenyl thionoethane phosphonic acid ester halide with ammonia. The starting material may be prepared in situ by reacting a thionoethane phosphonic acid dihalide with an optionally substituted phenol. The compounds of Formula I are used as insecticides, acaricides and neriatocides, either alone or as the active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions, and they may be applied to animals in order to free them or protect them from ectoparasites.
