<p>Polyamides in a shaped or unshaped form are dyed at high temps. in a strongly alkaline dye bath contg. a vat dye, formaldehyde sulphoxylate and a ketone of formula O=C (CH2)n where n is a whole number of 4-9, pref. cyclohexanone. Polyamide granules may be dyed and then spun into fibres by a melt spinning process or the polyamide in the form of fibres, film, textile material, etc. is dyed by the process. the dye is fast to light and washing and the cyclic ketone is cheaper than the benzyl alcohol and boron hydride catalyst used in DT 2045381.</p> |
