<p>Powdered sugar or other finely divided materials liable to self adhesion is conditioned to prevent agglomeration and the formation of lumps when the ground material is stored in silos or packed, by introducing a steam of air of medium moisture content into the powdered sugar immediately after grinding, in such a way that the air gives rise to a fluidised bed and its temp. lies between the dew pt. on the surface of the sugar crystals and the temp. at which thermal changes of the sugar are initiated. The moisture content is pref. 60% and the air is at 15-40 degrees C.</p> |
