<p>PURPOSE:To enable an old machine to handle data even when an item is added by a succeeding machine by providing 'others' to a setting item which is possibly extended in further. CONSTITUTION:An underscored item on a display unit(CRT) 7 is an item which is set and a cursor CM(underline) is normally moved with keys to select a Mincho(one kind of character font) typeface or Gothic typeface. For example, a new settable item, e.g. a brush writing typeface is added to the succeeding machine and data set for the brush writing type face are read in. In this case, this machine can not handle the brush writing typeface, so the cursor is set at 'others'. Therefore, the user knows that the printing format is set to neither the Mincho typeface nor the Gothic typeface and can set the Mincho typeface or Gothic typeface. Consequently, even if settable items in the same item increases on the succeeding machine, the old machine can use data regarding the new settable item.</p> |
