PURPOSE:To shorten a start-up time by allowing a control part to execute microdiagnosis only when said diagnosis is selected by a switch. CONSTITUTION:If a power supply is turned ON, CPU 1 interpretes whether a switch 4 is turned ON or OFF after initialization. If the switch is turned ON, a control part executes microdiagnosis first, and then starts routine processing. On the other hand, if the switch is turned OFF, the control part proceeds with a routine processing without microdiagnosis. Generally a printer shows a variable failure rate against an operating time. Subsequently, a printer, capable of selecting bewteen microdiagnosis and non-microdiagnosis, does not perform the microdiagnosis during a period when the failure rate is low and stable. Thus it is possible to shorten time for the start of operation without losing the reliability of hardware. |
