<p>The billet of wood is clamped with its axis vertical to a turntable, driven by a vertical shaft from a motor running at 20-100 rpm below the casing with side inlet and top smoke outlet. An electric hot plate rests on the cut top end of the wood and is mounted on cross arms with rollers at their ends running in vertical guides within the vertical cylindrical casing. A limit switch at the bottom of the guides switches off the heater and motor when the wood has been consumed. The charcoal is rubbed away progressively and ejected radially. Uniform smoke production and reduced soot contaimination.</p> |
