Powdered chalk is weighed out into a hopper and thence fed at controlled rate via a vibratory conveyor onto a rotating distributor disc carried on the stirrer shaft within the reactor vessel. Raw molasses is fed by gravity to a weighing system, thence into a mixer where it is diluted with water and whence it passes to a cooled stirred reservoir and in turn is pumped to the reactor which also contains a cooler. From the reactor the syrup falls into a reservoir whence it is drawn via a continuous rotation vacuum filter and fed to the conveyor leading the syrup to the first sugar refining stage. Relatively low cost of plant and high yield efficiency, hence reduced product cost.
|
