<p>Anti-corrosion coatings with insulating properties are produced on thin metal sheets, e.g. vehicle body panels etc., by priming the cleaned sheet; coating electrostatically while still damp, with a powder mixt. of platics and blowing agent prepd. by the dry blend method; and heating the whole, so that the primer dries and hardens and the powder mixt. fuses and foams and becomes firmly bonded with the substrate. The primer can be an acid mixt. contg. phosphate and/or a phenolic resin lacquer. The plastics can be a thermoplastics, to which up to 10 wt. % thermosetting plastics can be added, or a thermosetting plastics. The coatings can be produced easily and economically, adhere well, have excellent resistance to corrosion and wear and also have good insulating and anti-drumming properties. They are light, have high resistance to heat and cold and good mechanical properties.</p> |
