[Also in Division H1] A selector switch having movable magnetic flux carrying members continuously rotated past magnetic contact units has an energizing coil which can be selectively energized to operate chosen contact units which are then retained in the operated condition by respective permanent magnets. In Fig 3 (not shown), a tape reader 44 makes a connection to a predetermined one of thirty-two selection terminals 34 which are connected to a selector rotated continuously with the flux carrying members of a primary selector switch 21 and thirty-two secondary selector switches 25. The first reading from the tape causes closure of a contact unit on the primary selector to connect one of the secondary selectors in circuit and a second reading causes closure of a chosen contact unit on this secondary selector- Any number of pairs of such readings will result in the closure of the same number of the 2<SP>10</SP> contact units of the secondary selectors. Reverse energization of all the operating coils for a complete revolution of the selectors resets all the contact units. The selectors may connect resistors in series (Fig. 4, not shown), and if the resistors are connected to a constant current generator and controlled by a tape reader as described above digital input can be converted to analogue output.</p> |
