1494495 Load measurement DARENTH WEIGHING EQUIPMENT Ltd 5 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 21846/74 Heading G1W The load on a carrier 1 is determined by means of three or more hydrostatic load cells 2 which entirely support the carrier and which are connected to means 6, 8 for summing and indicating the sum of the pressures in the load cells, each load cell comprising a vertical bellows 20 having a closed bottom end, and a housing 31 having an opening in its top in which the upper end of the bellows is sealed to form a liquid pressure chamber around the periphery of and beneath the bellows, the carrier being supported from the upper faces of the closed bottoms of the bellows by rigid members 37. Lateral movement of the bellows is limited by engagement of a plate 22 with the housing. The carrier 1 is mounted on the member 37 via a flange 13 sealed to the housing by a rubber gaiter 40. In device 6, the individual pressures are applied to a lever via bellows and the lever acts on an electrical load cell. The load carrier 1 may be a liquid tank supported by three load cells or a weighbridge supported by four load cells. The bellows 20 may be of stainless steel, brass, phosphor-bronze or beryllium copper. |
