The arrangement consists of grips (4) which are mounted on a support structure (3). The support can be moved by an actuator (10). The workpiece (6) in the grips can be rotated about its own centre (5). The grips which hold the workpiece can be extended on a slide (2), till the workpiece is in line with the cutting tool (7). After this, the grip support can be pivoted about a centre (1) to bring the workpiece in engagement with the cutter. The force which is exerted to press the workpiece against the cutter, is less than the force which is exerted to rotate the workpiece.
