PURPOSE:To enable formation of a high-quality color image without forming a detection mark separately by providing a single-or multi-color dye layers and one or plural separable white dye-receptive layers, in sequential surface order, on one surface of a long base film of a thermal transfer sheet and detecting the dye-receptive layer with the reflection or shielding of a detection light using a white-receptive layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet A consists of a single-or multi-color dye layers 2Y, 2M, 2C and one or plural peel-off white dye-receptive layers 3 formed, in sequential surface order, on one surface of a long base film 1, and further, a transferable protecting layer 4, if necessary. The dye-receptive layer 3 is composed of white pigment added to such an extent that it becomes opaque, and an adhesive layer formed on the surface. If the thermal transfer sheet A is attached to a printer having a light projector 6 and a light receiving sensor 7 on one end and an image is thermally transferred, a detection light 8 is reflected by the dye-receptive layer 3 and received by the light receiving sensor 7 as the sheet runs, and the detection light 8 is not detected at the dye layer 2 or the protecting layer 4. If the light projector 6 and the light receiving sensor 7 are installed with the thermal transfer sheet A sandwiched in between, the dye-receptive layer 3 is detected when the detection light is not detected. |
