PURPOSE:To make the temp. in the width direction of a strip uniform by properly changing the roll crown of water-cooled rolls or the level of said rolls at the time of cooling the strip with the water-cooled rolls. CONSTITUTION:In cooling a strip while bringing the strip in contact with a metallic roll R cooled with water internally, the roll crown of the water-cooled roll R or the level of the roll R is changed according to the temp. distribution in the width direction of the strip on the inlet side of the roll R. More specifically, the driving side Dr is pivoted and a height adjusting mechanism 3 is provided to the operator side Op to move the operator side Op vertically. Thereby, the strip in contact with the roll R is cooled particularly on the side higher than the horizontal level L. Hence, the strip is cooled uniformly in the width direction by such change in leveling. |
