The epicyclic gearbox has a central pinion (14), with straight gear teeth, engaging with planet gears (17) which in turn, run within the outer gear ring (20) which integral with the case (11). The planet gears (17) drive the planet gear-carrier (21) which is connected to both the spindles (18) of the planet gears and the drive shaft (22). The position of the central pinion (14) is allowed a degree of float through two spherical bearings (30,35). The inside cage (31) of one bearing is attached to the shaft (13) of the pinion (14) whilst the external cage is attached to the planet gear-carrier. The centre (O2) of the second bearing (35) is fixed on the gearbox centre-line which allows the first bearing (30) to float.
|
