PREPARATION METHOD FOR 5-METHYL-4-IMMIDAZOL CARBOXYLATE

Imidazolecarboxylate esters of formula (I) [R=C1-4 alkyl, CH2Ph are prepd. Thus, MeCOCH2CO2Et is reacted with NaNO2 to give HON; CAcCO2Et which is cyclized with CH2O and NH3 to give 72.7% (I)(R=Et). (I)(R=Et) is converted to cimetidine by redn. to the alc. and substitution with cysteamine and NcNHC(SMe):NMe and is useful for treatment of duodenal ulcers.
