<p>An adapter (28), mounted on the cylindrical sidewall (33) of a vacuum cleaner tank (15), provides a receptacle (32) for a rigid connector (30) on which a flexible vacuum hose (20) is sealingly mounted. The leading edge (47) of the connector insert is beveled. A corresponding beveled surface (42) is formed on the inner wall of the receptacle to engage and seal with the beveled leading edge of the connector to form a continuous, peripheral seal immediately adjacent to the wall of the tank so that when the vacuum motor is turned on, a positive force is generated to increase the effectiveness of the seal.</p> |
