A pref. superconducting solenoid (32) is wound around practically the entire length of a tube (31) contg. an axial electrode (34) and a serpentine fixture (36) in the shape of an Archimedeam screw. An adjustment DC source (35) maintains a radial electric field (E) at right angles to the longitudinal magnetic field (B) of the solenoid (32). Free charge carriers in the water follow circular paths (38, 39), generating an axial thrust (40).
