摘要 A flux sensor (11) for measurement of the neutraon flux from a fluid nuclear fuel solution (9) in at least one container (18) has a fixed enclosure shield (12). A neutron transparent window (16) provides a path for neutrons to the sensor. The neutron flux sensor (11) is pref. a fission ionisation chamber device with a hydrogen gas environment. The fissionable material coating of the sensor is pref. U-235. USE/ADVANTAGE - Recovery of uranium, plutonium and decay products from spent fuel elements. The sensor is shielded from stray radiation from other containers and from background gamma radiation.
