The disc of the rotor is mfd. from a generally rectangular strip (1) of metal which is subdivided at acute angles (4) into an even number of trapezoidal section (2a,2b, etc.) to form the connections between neighbouring blades (8) of the fan. The intermediate trapezoidal sections (3a,3b,3c etc.) are bent along their midlines (7a, etc.) after removal of V-shaped cutouts (12,16) to form the blades themselves. The strip (1) is bent into a ring and its two ends are bonded together (F) e.g by welding or riveting. ADVANTAGE - Rotor with larger disc and enhanced cooling capacity can be mfd. more cheaply.
