The projector for projecting images of transparencies vertically upwards on to a ceiling has a light source (2), a reflector (3), a condensing lens group (4), a slot (5) to receive the transparency, and an objective lens (6). The optical axis (7) of this objective lens is essentially vertical in order to project the image on to the ceiling. - All these functional parts are enclosed in a cylindrical housing (8) which is mounted on a baseplate (9) of larger diameter which, together with the housing (8) is enclosed in a decorative outer housing (10). This outer housing (10) may be a vase made of ceramic.
