PURPOSE:To obtain the title ring having excellent wear resistance, high toughness, excellent sliding characteristics at high speed and stability without causing seizure to traveler and cracking, comprising the surface consisting of aluminum oxide containing a specific amount of silicon carbide whisker. CONSTITUTION:The objective ring having the surface at least to be brought into contact with a traveler, consisting of aluminum oxide containing 20-40wt.% silicon carbide whisker(preferably one having 0.4-0.8mum diameter and 10-80mum length) by weight ratio. Roughness of contact surface with traveler is preferably <=Ra0.15mum. |
