<p>A subflooring assembly for an athletic playing surface (12) includes rows of parallel strut members (22), each of which are supported at spaced points by a pair of resilient shock absorber members (24). A sleeper member (28) is supported on top of each row of strut members (22) for supporting a floor of hardwood maple strips (14) or other desired material. The shock absorbing characteristics of the flooring can be selected by choosing a durometer value for the shock absorber members (24), and by preselecting the desired distance of separation between the shock absorber members (24) in each pair. A method of assembly using prefabricated panel sections is also disclosed.</p> |
