In a method for the control of a gear change of an automatic stepped-ratio gearbox of a motor vehicle, in which one frictional connection is disengaged as another is engaged, the change in the gearbox input rotational speed during the shift is controlled by control of the transmission torque of a frictional connection in response to a required deceleration value as a function of deceleration torque. This control further utilises measurements of the gearbox input torque (calculated from engine torque and toque converter characteristics) and of the torque resulting from the change in moment of inertia of rotating masses during the shift. |
