A trap captures sediments, oil and greases carried by water towards a drain. The depth of the sedimentary deposit formed is measured by a first probe, and the depth of the floating oil and grease in the trap is measured by a second probe. The two probes form a set. The novelty is that: (a) the sedimentary probe consists of a telescopic rod (2) and an oil and grease foam measuring glass (8); (b) the-end section of the telescopic rod (2) bears a flat plate (6) whose specific gravity is greater than that of water, and incorporating a central orifice whose diameter is greater than that of the rod (2); (c) the flat plate (6) slides up and down the rod, held in a roughly horizontal attitude by a forked line (3); (d) the rod (2) and/or line (3) bear calibration markings; (e) the cap on the old and grease foam measuring cylinder (8) is fixed centrically to the telescopic tube (7), and the stopper (9) is arranged on the rod (2) fixed in the telescopic tube (7); (f) an air outlet (10) is incorporated in the cap (8) or in the cylinder wall near the cap, and may be closed by a float valve.
