Process for the separation of alpha-olefins by destillation from an effluent comprising ethylene and butene-1

Sepn. is claimed of a mixt. comprising ethylene, a hydrocarbon cut contg. 4C hydrocarbons(mostly 1-butene), and a cut contg. 6C hydrocarbons mostly alpha olefins, and 30 - 70% of ethylene. The sepn. is effected in a distn. zone, from which a head fraction comprising most of the ethylene is obtd. and 0 -100% of the 1-butene in the mixt. The process involves the addn. of extra 1-butene in the ratio of 1 to 40 times the amt.(wt.) of 1-butene in the mixt.
