The invention pertains to agriculture and forestry, specifically, growing nursery plants with closed root systems. The aim is to optimise the nutrient supply to the plants, reduce labour and increase the yield of standard nursery plants. The method involves installing a device containing a full range of macro-nutrients and trace elements in the central part of a container, providing a fertiliser-free substrate and subsequently initiating the device 10-40 days after planting. During the growing period, nutrients are fed at a rate of 8-15 mg/hour, the respective relative proportions of N, P2O5 and K2O being 3:1:4 to 20:16:10. Instead of a single device, groups of such devices may be installed to ensure a target output, or alternatively, groups of devices dispensing measured quantities of individual nutrients with the same output. The rated quantity of nutrients can be greater than necessary to ensure the supply of nutrients after the plants have been transferred to a permanent site.
