A method and apparatus for remote access to a private space (140) is provided. A private space (140) is set up in a remote system (140) accessible through a network (130). A user identification based on the user's fingerprint is associated with the private space. Fingerprint information is received from the user (420) to access the space, and compared to the user identification stored in the remote system (440).
