PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-phase linear motor which is easy to manufacture at low-cost because a fewer number of coils are required, and which makes it possible to obtain driving performance equivalent to the case where three coils are used. SOLUTION: This three-phase linear motor 1 contains a moving body 2 having three salient poles 3, 4, 5 and rails 6 structured with magnets 8, 9, of different polarity laid alternately. U-phase coil Cu, V-phase coil Cv are wound on the salient poles 3, 4. But, a W-phase coil Cw is omitted. Instead, a given current is caused to flow for the U-phase coil Cu and V-phase coil Vu not omitted. In this case, the current values supposed to flow in the omitted W-phase coil Cw are subtracted from the currents to be caused to flow in both coils Cu, Cv, i.e., Iu-Iw and Iv-Iw respectively. Thus, the conduction of electric power to both coils Cu, Cv moves the moving body 2 linearly on the rails 6. |
