OK-RUBBER MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE MATERIALS

The present invention relates to the techniques for recycling (secondary use) rubber such as used tyres from vehicles as well as various other mechanical rubber products. This invention also relates to materials obtained from this secondary raw material. The OK-rubber of the present invention consists of a ground vulcanisate. The surface of the particles of the OK-rubber is enriched with chemically active functional groups, namely oxygen-containing groups such as carboxyle, hydroxyle, carbonyle and peroxide groups. The active groups located at the surface of the OK-rubber particles are extracted from the starting material of the vulcanisate. This new OK-rubber material can be used in the development of a new method for producing composite materials while using various polymer binders. In the method of the present invention, the vulcanisate powder and the binder are dosed and mixed until a homogeneous mass is obtained, and the mixture thus obtained is further moulded and cured. The method involves using the OK-rubber as the vulcanisate powder.
